For PRP, Scalp Microneedling & SMP
Numbing Cream for Hair Restoration
Compounded Triple-Anesthetic BLT
The scalp is sensitive and it has hair on it, which changes how you apply, wait and remove. Always Numb™ is a compounded BLT with a ~15-minute onset and 2–4 hour duration, applied section by section. For licensed providers.
Scalp Treatments
Three Services,
One Sensitive Area
PRP Injections
Many Injection Points
Dozens of small injections across thinning areas. A topical takes the edge off each one; some providers add a nerve block for larger areas at their discretion.
Scalp Microneedling
Often Paired With PRP
Shallow passes over the treatment zone. Numb the section you will treat and remove the cream completely before the first pass.
Scalp Micropigmentation
SMP · Multiple Sessions
Large areas over several sessions. Numb only the zone you will finish that day, never the whole scalp at once.
Working Around Hair
The Scalp Is
Not the Face
Hair gets between the cream and the skin, and cream left in hair is hard to get out. These are the adjustments providers make on the scalp.
Part in Rows
Part the hair in rows across the treatment zone and apply along each part so the cream reaches skin, not hair.
Work in Sections
The scalp is a large area. Numb one section at a time and treat it before moving on.
Remove Thoroughly
Wipe along each part and cleanse the skin before treatment. Residue in the hair is a cleanup job, residue on the skin is a problem.
Responsible Use
Large Area,
Small Doses
The FDA advises against heavy application of topical anesthetics over large areas, applying them to broken or irritated skin, wrapping treated skin and adding heat. On the scalp that means sections, no caps or wraps over the cream, and no application over scalp irritation.
No Caps or Wraps
Don't cover the cream with a shower cap, film or towel while it works.
Intact Skin Only
Skip areas with scalp irritation, scratches or active skin conditions.
Questions
Hair Restoration Numbing FAQ
Yes. Providers part the hair, apply to the scalp over the treatment area about 15 to 20 minutes before, then remove it and prep the skin. Some add a nerve block for larger areas; that is a clinical decision.
Part the hair in rows and apply along each part so the cream reaches the skin. Work section by section across the treatment zone.
Yes, on the zone treated that day. SMP covers a large area over several sessions, so numb only what you will finish and never cover the scalp while it works.
